Case city segment

The driver owns his vehicle for a period of 10 years and drives on average 20000 km per year. The assumed petrol and diesel prices are respectively €1.465/l and €1.333/l, for CNG the assumed price is €0.82/kg and the assumed electricity price is €0.27/kWh.
The Western Europe and Scandinavian policy packages are compared.

The TCO results of the vehicles in the city segment in the Western European case are €0.15 / km for the Toyota Aygo, €0.18 / km for the hybrid Toyota Yaris, €0.19 /km Mitsubishi i-Miev and €0.13 / km for the Volkswagen Up!. The difference per kilometer between the petrol and electric vehicle amounts to €0.04. The differences are mainly due to higher depreciation of the Mitsubishi i-Miev compared to the Toyota Aygo. The depreciation of the Mitusbishi i-Miev is twice the amount of the depreciation of the Toyota Aygo.

These differences mainly influence the TCO of the Toyota Aygo, Toyota Yaris and the Volkswagen Up!. The road tax and registration tax are more important in the Scandinavian case and influences the TCO more, except for the Mitsubishi i-Miev. This results in a TCO of €0.18/km for the Toyota Aygo, €0.20/km for the Toyota Yaris, €0.19/km for the Mitsubishi i-Miev and 0.16/km for the Volkswagen Up!. Note that the depreciation is approximatively the same for the Mitsubishi i-Miev without the subsidy since the 25% VAT does not have to be paid for this vehicle technology. The difference between the petrol and electric vehicle is smaller than in the Western European case and amounts to €0.02/km.
